Activities in October

4th class went on a trip to the library this week, they had the chance to meet the Irish author Felicity Dempsey. They were lucky enough to get to hear Felicity read one story from her new book about Granny Bridget and they had the chance to ask Felicity all their questions about being an author and writing her book!

The girls also practiced working in teams to complete a STEM activity. Each group was given one piece of paper, one glue stick and one pair of scissors, they were given the task of making the longest paper chain they possibly could as a team before the timer ran out. The girls worked together to plan and then began creating.

After the timer was up we laid out our finished paper chains to see the results!

In science we completed an experiments to find out which the dominant sides of our brains were. We completed a variety of different tests using our eyes, hands and feet to find out who has more of an analytical left sided brain or a creative right sided brain.

First we tested our eyes.

Then we experimented with throwing and catching to find out which hand each child was more likely to use.

Finally we had to experiment with our feet by jumping, landing and kicking. After all our experiments we added up all our scores to find our results!
